Traits That Facilitate Cross-Cultural Adaptation

The Cross- Cultural Adaptation is a natural process that We have to overcome to achieve our goal in a new culture.

Two advices which help us to develop a cross- cultural perpective easier and faster are:

·       Spend time in the new culture. How is their behavior?, what They doing?, When They speak, What places do They go often?

·       See the people and understand them. There are things that will be disapproved from you in the new culture. You should have to understand that They are different.

Essay #2

1. Describe the change in the relationship between the mother country and the colonies 1700-1774.  Include major  events and dates in your discussion.

The British came to settle this land as colonies of Great Britain in 1700s. At first, their relationship with the mother country was for trade reasons. They controlled the trades; however, not their life.

By 1740, a war broke out between France and the mother country. Later in 1763, Great Britain defeated the French and received the domination of the American’s territory since then. At this time, the connection became protective for the new domain.

1765 the relationship became more tense when Parliament imposed the Stamp Act. Then, the colonists protested against it; however in 1767, Parliament passed another law. A group of Bostonians called "Sons of Liberty" protested again and began a boycott.

In 1768, Bostonians began to attack the tax collectors directly, and they set fire to their houses. Later in 1770, a group of protestant throws rocks at a group of soldiers. This began the so-called Boston Massacre; as a result, five dead and six wounded. The resentment toward taxes and soldiers grew.

Afterward in 1772, Parliament removed taxes except the tax on British tea; however, the colonists didn’t want any taxes: "no taxation without representation". The colonists refused to buy or sell it even though they do not allow unloaded it from ships. On 16 December 1773, the Sons of Liberty threw tea from the boats and this is known as "Boston Tea Party".

In 1774, the king of England very angry decided to punish the Bostonians. He decided to close the port of Boston, put away the power of the assembly and to leave the area in military dominance.

Finally, both friction and discontent on the part of Bostonians led to the American Revolution in 1776.
